UPDATE: Notes from the last Civic Assoication Meeting
Notes from meeting with Town representatives John Scavo and Phil Barret: As it stands, the current owners no longer want to own the Barney Road golf course and they are also interested in selling the garage and the office building. The Town of Clifton Park is very interested in buying the golf course portion of the property and establishing a Town golf course. It already owns some of the land surrounding the golf course, which is managed by the park district. At this point, there is no proposal for development on the land and the current owners would like to sell it to the Town if price is fair. Having gone through a bid process, the Town selected an appraiser at last town board meeting. It will take approximately 6 weeks to get an appraisal report back to the Town board before they can even begin any negotiations with the current owners. In order to determine the value of the property, it needs to be appraised as a golf course and as property to develop as residential. Given the wet lands and not knowing the water table they cannot determine at this time how many homes could be built there. The Town is checking to see if there any prior rulings concerning the potential to develop this property, but have found nothing to date. The property is currently zoned residential. If the Town were to purchase the land it would be zoned as public recreation/institutional space. It was noted that if the property is not sold, there is nothing to force the current owner to maintain it and it could become overgrown and abandoned.
The next Board Meeting will be on June 9th

Thanks to everyone who showed the Town that the residents of Clifton Knolls Mill Creek care about their neighborhood.
About 40 residents attended Tuesday's (April 27) Park Committee's meeting where John Scavo, Jr., Director of Town Planning and Jennifer Viggiani, Open Space Coordinator, discussed at length the research that the Town is doing regarding the possible purchase of the golf course in order to preserve the open space, rather than have the land developed. There is a tremendous amount of work that needs to be done and many in attendance were able to voice their thoughts and concerns. The next step that the Town Board will take is to select an appraisal company to provide a fair market value of the 39 acre parcel, which should be completed in May. The Town board meets the first 3 Monday's in May (the 3rd, 10th and 17th) at Town Hall and will most likely make a decision on the appraiser at one of these meetings.
Please come out to these meetings and help support your neighborhood.

Reminders

When power outages occur, remember to call National Grid at 1-800-867-5222 (press option #8). They don't know your power is out, and the more people that call, the easier it is for them to understand the extent of the outage.
