Board Meetings Resume
With the coming of September, CKMCCA monthly board meetings will resume this Wednesday, September 10th, at 7:30 pm. In response to member comments, the board decided to hold this and future meetings at the Locust Lane clubhouse, to make it easier for all interested homeowners to attend.

Park District Meetings
Not everyone knows that our parks and entrance markers are maintained by the Clifton Knolls Park District, a separate entity from the Civic Association. The Park District, which includes neighborhood representatives, meets on the 4th Tuesday of every month from September through June, at 7pm at Town Hall on the corner of Vischer Ferry and Clifton Park Center Road. Any interested residents are welcome to attend meetings. The next meeting will be held on September 23rd, 2008.

Memorial Day in Clifton Park
The Third Annual Memorial Service for Julie Delo was held Monday, May 26, 2008 at 10am. See story on our community page.

Pond Grounds Say Thanks for the Cleanup!
On April 26, about two dozen of your neighbors spent 90 minutes walking the paths and greenspace around our ponds, picking up all kinds of litter and trash. Like every year, we’re surprised at just how much accumulates, and find lots of interesting things. This year the most surprising was a near-complete set of 6 place settings. Thanks again to everyone that came down to help out. And if you’re out walking on the trails—or anywhere else in our neighborhood for that matter—and you see trash, feel free to pick it up, take it home, and throw it away. Trash on the ground makes others more likely to throw THEIR trash on the ground. The Keep America Beautiful project has found that a clean community discourages littering and illegal dumping. Proper handling of trash, litter, and waste in a community raises the standards and expectations of everyone, not to mention keeps up our property values!

2008 CKMCCA Annual Meeting
The Clifton Knolls - Mill Creek Civic Association annual meeting was held at the Locust Lane Clubhouse, on Wednesday, April 23. The Civic Association financial report and a brief report on our activities of the past year was presented. A vote of thanks and a certificate of appreciation were presented to past president and departing board member Loretta Parsons. The 2008 CKMCCA Scholarship award winner was announced to be MaryJane Anderson. Two returning and several new candidates were elected to three-year terms on the CKMCCA Board. The highlight of the evening was a presentation by John Scherer, Clifton Park Town Historian, as he led a panel discussion with Mary Crabbe about Clifton Knolls formative years.

Reminders

When power outages occur, remember to call National Grid at 1-800-867-5222 (press option #1). They don't know your power is out, and the more people that call, the easier it is for them to understand the extent of the outage.
